Deryck Whibley is no longer Deryck Jason Lavigne Whibley.
Three years after he finalized his divorce from Canadian pop star Avril Lavigne, who has since remarried Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, Whibley filed a petition to legally drop her last name. He had adopted the surname as one of his middle names after they tied the knot in 2006, reports TMZ.
Whibley and Lavigne filed for divorce in 2009; Lavigne remarried this past July, which perhaps prompted the Sum 41 singer to finally let go of the last vestige of his marriage to the "Compicated" singer.
And though it wasn't that long ago that Lavigne and her ex were believed to have agood relationship post-divorce, the fact that Whibley and his girlfriend, Ari Cooper, dressed up as Lavigne and Kroeger for Halloween in 2012 speaks volumes.
